About Me
My name is Helen Woods and although I work with clients across a broad spectrum, I specialise in working with high profile individuals, helping navigate the pressures this environment can bring to both personal and professional relationships, in addition to managing the impact this can have on psychological wellbeing.
Working together we can tailor an idiosyncratic treatment plan that can include highly specialist Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy/Psychoanalysis, or Person Centred Experiential Psychotherapy, depending on individual need/requirements.
Having received world class training at top institutions, and working as a Senior Psychotherapist/Supervisor for many years, in both the public sector and private practice, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience in successfully helping people overcome Depression, Low Self-Esteem, Imposter Syndrome, Burnout, Generalised Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, Panic Disorder, PTSD, OCD, Phobias, Eating Disorders and relationship issues. In addition, I have expert knowledge in working with clients with long term health conditions, as well as supporting women with fertility issues and Perimenopausal/Menopausal symptoms.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), the professional body for CBT Practitioners. This means I have reached a recognised standard of excellence in CBT practice, having achieved at least 4 years of training, which includes training and experience in mental health, as well as specialist CBT training. In addition, it is a requirement of accreditation to have had substantial (at least 100 hours) post graduate university validated CBT training.
My post-graduate training was at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College, London, where I received tuition from world leading experts in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), in addition to receiving training in Supervision and Long Term Conditions.
I also trained in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) at The Anna Freud National Centre, London, where I again received world class tuition. I am an accredited member of Interpersonal Psychotherapy UK (IPT UK). This, in addition to my extensive training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and Person Centred Experiential training at the Metanoia Institute, London, qualifying as a Licensed Practitioner, means I am well equipped to support a wide range of mental health difficulties.
